- Easy, Inexpensive Review by Joe Jones
- This is the base model for the hovabator incubators (read: cheapest) and it does just fine. I may not be getting the most amazing hatching rates ever, but it is sufficient for the small scale breeding that I am doing. I don't know what I would do with 40+ chickens anyway, so the 25-30 that I get from a full set is sufficient for me. I sell each of my chicks at $3 a piece, so my initial investment was paid for in my first hatch, and everything after that has just been money in my pocket. It is very easy to use this incubator, just set it and add some water now and then. If I choose to invest more in my incubation projects, I will be adding an egg turner next. I typically hand turn, which I enjoy because it lets me look at all of my eggs and check their progress each day. However, it would be nice to know that even if I have an emergency, my eggs will still be in good (if mechanical) hands. Overall, this incubator works great for me, and I hope it continues to keep chugging along for years to come. (Posted on 8/6/2015)
